Privacy Policy
This explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and how to make us delete it. It is written to be read, not to be skipped.
Case information is sensitive. Matrimonial, criminal and family matters especially so. We have written this policy on the assumption that a leak would cause you real harm — and we operate accordingly.
Who we are
MyCaseFile (“MyCaseFile”, “we”, “us”) provides court document retrieval and case-support services in India. We are the data fiduciary for the information described below. You can reach us at hello@mycasefile.in.
What we collect
- Contact details — your name, mobile number, email and postal address, so we can reach you and courier documents to you.
- Case details — case number, court, party names, and the documents you ask us to obtain. We need these to file the application at all.
- Identity documents — only where a court requires an ID or signed authorisation to release a certified copy. We do not ask for ID otherwise.
- Payment records — amount, date and transaction reference. Card and bank details are handled entirely by our payment gateway; we never see or store them.
- Website usage — basic analytics such as pages visited and approximate city. Not linked to your case.
What we do with it
We use your information to file and follow up applications at court, to deliver documents to you, to answer your questions, to raise invoices, and to meet our legal and tax obligations. That is the complete list.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it for advertising. We do not build profiles on you.
Who else sees it
- Our district representative handling your request — they see only what the court needs.
- The court — the application itself is a court record.
- An advocate — only if you ask to be connected to one, and only what you agree to share.
- Courier and payment providers — delivery address and payment reference respectively.
Nobody else. We do not transfer your data outside India except where a service provider we use stores data abroad, in which case we require contractual safeguards.
How long we keep it
Case details and documents: three years from completion, because clients frequently come back needing the same document again. Invoices and tax records: eight years, as Indian tax law requires. Website analytics: fourteen months.
You can ask us to delete your case data earlier, and we will, except for records we are legally required to retain.
Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct anything wrong, delete it, or withdraw consent you previously gave. Email hello@mycasefile.in and we will respond within 30 days at the outside — usually much sooner.
Withdrawing consent while a request is in progress means we cannot continue it, since we would no longer be able to deal with the court on your behalf.
Security
Case files are stored encrypted with access limited to the people working on your request. WhatsApp conversations are end-to-end encrypted by WhatsApp itself. We are not going to claim our systems are unbreachable — nobody's are — but if a breach affects you, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board promptly.
Grievance officer
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, contact our grievance officer:
If we do not resolve it, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Changes
If we change this policy materially, we will say so on this page and, for active clients, tell you directly. Last updated 2026.
